Hello. My name is Brad Hurlbut, Director of Athletics here on the Metropolitan campus. Congratulations on your acceptance to FDU. Athletics brings such pride and joy to our campus. We hope you will be wearing the burgundy and blue now and forever. Here in the Metropolitan campus, we cater to Division One athletics. Just right down the road on our Florham campus, we have a Division Three campus as well and both flourish and both are very successful. So if you're a Division One student athlete, Metropolitan campus would be for you if you're a Division Three athlete, we've got great programs down in our Florham campus.
I am Jen Noon, Director of Athletics at the Florham campus, home of the Division Three Devils. Fairleigh Dickinson University strives to enhance opportunities for athletic, intellectual, moral, and social development of all students.
Our Division One athletic department currently has 19 teams, and recently announced the additions of men's volleyball and women's lacrosse. Our student athletes strive for excellence in the classroom, in their sport, and in the community. We are very fortunate to have won many conference championships and several NCAA titles, and we look to continue our success this upcoming year.
It's a very exciting time to be a Devil. We are currently outfitted in Under Armour for all of our athletic teams, and place major emphasis on the student experience. We recently completed the construction of our new tennis courts, another artificial turf fields, allowing our student athletes to be able to practice at two separate locations at the Florham campus. And it's been a long time coming but the Vincent J. and Linda F. Naimoli Ballpark is going to be one of the best Division Three baseball fields in the state.
Our student athletes continue to give back in the community as well. The Knights took home the Building Community Award from the Northeast Conference by accumulating over 3,200 hours of community service during the 2019-2020 academic year. Beyond intercollegiate athletics, FDU also has a state of the art fitness center. Built in 2003, the multimillion dollar facility houses top of the line fitness equipment of gymnasium for intramurals, as well as aerobics and a dance studio. You know, we've been really fortunate to win a lot of NAC titles, championship titles, and go to the NCAA tournament and many of our sports. As matter of fact, we have two national championships in women's bowling, our women's fencing team has three national championships, and our men's basketball team just recently won its first ever game in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament.
Devils athletics is home of 19 athletic teams, along with a variety of different clubs, organizations that our student athletes are involved in. Not only are you an athlete, but you are also a student and involved in the campus community, whether that be with a sorority, or fraternity, a specific club within your major. The world is your oasis here at FDU. Our student athletes are very successful in the classroom, and that is evidenced by our cumulative GPA of a 3.33 for the past academic year.
I think when you come to our campus, you're going to feel the vibrancy of it and especially if it's in season, and you get a chance to stop by the Rocklin Center to see a men's or women's basketball game or go out the University Stadium this year men's and women's soccer team play as well. All of them are championship caliber teams.
We welcome all of you to come and catch a game. We're super excited to have you part of the FDU family.
Congratulations again on your acceptance and we look forward to welcoming you to the FDU family.
